Compassion Partnership
Building a new skills development centre in Uganda
We are partnered with Compassion Australia in hopes to raise sufficient funds to build a new Skills Development Centre in West Kampala, Uganda.
The children at Compassion's Mackay Child Development Centre in Uganda are often stuck in the cycle of poverty and lag behind in skills development. They lack access to computers and graduate from the program computer illiterate, and then struggle to get jobs. The children also have limited access to training in other skills such as tailoring, shoe making, and knitting.
This new Skills Development Centre will provide the space and resources to address the gap in children’s skills development and academic performance. Older children will have opportunities to learn new skills and vocations from trained teachers and prepare for life after school. Younger children will be exposed to a variety of multi-sensory early learning experiences. The centre will consist of a computer section, tailoring and knitting, shoe making and a library with age-appropriate books and games. This will enhance reading skills and facilitate the cognitive development of children - giving these children the best chance of a bright future.
Thank you for your support. Together we can make a difference!
